"What is your absolute favourite thing in the world?"

When people ask me "what is your absolute favourite thing in the world?" my passsioante response is always, without a second of hesitation, "skiing". I LOVE to ski, I LIVE to ski! It is my happy place, it tops up the old emotional bank, so to speak! It's where I feel closest to God, where I sense so much freedom and feel like I could take on the world. I could be having the worst day, but put me on a snow-covered mountain with a couple of planks attached to my feet, and my perspective dramatically alters to one of overcoming, hopefulness, and gratitude.

When you're passionate about something, you can't help but to communicate that passion and love. I always implore people to go skiing! I know not everyone enjoys it as much as I do or that it won't neccessarily have the same healing effect for people, but I cannot help but share what I love with others. It's the same with my relationship with God, and my absolute love for church! I have experienced something so wonderful, and I want to share that experience with other people. It would be selfish not to! And whether or not people agree with me on my passions, I always find people inspired by my enthusiasm, and that it stirs their heart for what their passion is. To me, that is such a wonderful thing.

Rejections & Determinations

I was feeling a little flat after my blatant rejection letter from Snow + Rock. And looking back, who can blame them? It's a slightly insane dream. One of many of mine.

I was ready to throw in the towel, kick the bucket, hang up the ski jacket. But then I was like, WAIT! Will I be defined by rejection or determination?

After all, how many famous writers, actors, inventors, received a multitude of rejections before finally breaking through? It takes courage and persistance, and a refusal to give up.

Fear is the absense of faith...faith is the mastery of fear.

Childhood Aspirations

Most little girls daydream about one day being a famous pop star, or a beautiful ballerina, or a princess with her own castle.

Not me. I wanted to ski. It's all I ever want to do! Granted, I have many other aspirations too, but I can honestly say I cannot imagine my life without skiing in it!!

I'm going to chase the snow. I'm going to learn to do professional jumps. I will learn race techniques. I will compete in races. And win them too!

Lifelong dreams realised!

I have a dream...

I have a dream. I have a dream to follow the snow. To be a ski chaser and follow the snow for a year. Every day for a year, to ski. On every continent. I feel the need for speed. I ski for freedom. Down the mountain to move mountains. Racing for restoration!!!!

So here is the plan:
In July 2010 I will complete a fully accredited 10 week ski instructors training course in NZ. As well as equipping me to earn-as-I ski on my year long adventure, this also includes vitals such as avanlanche rescue, survival skills, racing techniques, video analysis etc etc.....I will ski there as long as I can. I'll then head to South America - Peru, Chile, and a couple of others. Then I'll go to France for the Autumn. I'll do Europe - all countries!- until the End of January. Next stop is Asia, to include for sure Japan, Nepal-MOUNT EVEREST!! (not sure if I'll make it to the top MWAH HAHA! But I will ski the resort there), India, Pakistan, Russia, Siberia.... End of February, early March I'll hit North America for as long as I can until the snow begins to melt. I'll head back to NZ for the early snow drifts, play in South Africa (yes, south Africa has a ski resort too!!The Tiffindel Resort of the Eastern Cape! Near Lesotho!), and then finish up in Australia in July 2011!!

As you can imagine, this will be quite the financial ordeal. So spread the word about the "ski chaser"!! I'm going to need sponsorship...from individuals, from groups, from air companies, travel companies, hotels, car rentals, couches at friends' places in different continents, SKIS!! Ski equipment, clothing, luggage, insurance, etc!

I am also after creative sponsorship. Artists, journalists, media contacts, designers,...in whatever that looks like. Want to design my skis?! Follow my journey? An interview with "the girl on the snow"???!!I will write as I ski...(probably not literally...I'm thinking alpine hits, apres ski reflections!!) so I am also looking for a publisher, someone interested in collecting my journal entries, or skiing perspectives from across the globe. If you or someone you know would like to brand or sponsor me...BE IN TOUCH!!
